It's to remove the spare tire from the trunk of an e35 (e36ti)
Did Bangle really say that? In the context I am thinking??

I see, strange that you'd need a tool for removing a spare tire. I was hoping that it was for pulling rims stuck securely to hubs (like I had to last time...:mad:).
Bangle did say exactly that (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-483906/BMW-embroiled-race-row-design-chief-boasts-axis-white-power.html). Even worse, it was posted as video directly off BMW's site. About 12 seconds in here at YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kc-cMbL5Do). The Truth about Cars (http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/chris-bangle-presents-bmws-axis-of-white-power/) blogs away about it too. I suspect he was talking of the dominant color of the cars in the display. Perception is the key here...
Possibly he's referring to the sense of styling studies...I'm told they're referred to as a 'body in white.'

It's crazy, I've heard many horror stories of people trying to remove the spare without the tool. Simple but sooo complex, I guess it was the start of things to come from 'modern' BMW
I just saw the video, I have mixed feelings because he is an American. He should know how people interpret info; especially in the US. Good thing he came on in '92- after the e30 designs had been locked :D
