Title: Dbilas ITB's installed
Post by: DutchM42 on August 23, 2010, 07:06:41 PM
After sitting in the garage for a year or so we finally resurrected the 318is of a friend of mine. The reason ? Some ITB's where waiting to get installed.

Also installed the Dbilas airbox. The plenum is not identical to the one made for the E36. There is a little more space to clear the brakebooster.

When finished we had to do a soundcheck :D

Next step is the MAF-delete and getting Alpha-N running.

congratulate your friend on joining the ITB club for me :D

it is nice how easy they are to install, isn't it?

mine didn't come with that nifty airbox top, but i just got gifted an AFM adapter, so i think i'm putting on my K&N again tomorrow.

I'm in love, how much did your setup run you?

Did you have trouble with the ABS, as it looks like the air intake is right where the control box is located?

Also, I second - very cool.  Can the Dbilas setup run on the stock ecu - ie compatible with throttle position sensor and fuel injection?  Also, what is the power like?

yes, that's how i'm running it- motronic 1.3 with a markd chip. the stock TPS bolts onto a spot on the end of the throttle shaft.

as far as the power goes, it shifts the band upward kinda like a hotter cam does... i'm still running the stock cams, but the engine is strongest from 4K to 7K now.

this is my car and itb`s ;)

we just wanted to try-fit it before taken the complete engine apart..

installing is not the most difficul thing to do, you only have to understand wich is doing what...

as a matter of fact, this complete intake is less troublesome to take apart than original..

Alpha-N is laying ready for build-in.. but that will be the last phase..
first the engine is going apart..
this probably will also take a year or so.. right now I am very busy taking my engine from my 325i conv apart... also going on itb`s:D

In this e30 I do not have abs... indeed the flowmaster will sit on top of the abs-unit, wich is not very easy to make a nice fit....

but with the loss of the airflowmeter, you won`t be needing it... just some panty`s over the itb`s :p

yeah, i thought the same thing. i was amazed how easy the install went.

congrats... what are the plans for the engine itself?

btw.. it runs on stock ecu... this one runs on a cheap ebay-chip.. but also runs..

idle isn`t what you want it to be.. but with the itb`s you kinda set the idle on the itb`s (by setting them a little bit `open`)

real profit in the power departement isn`t realy the case..
manely because it hasen`t been chipped after the build-up..

but the whole engine is going apart.. so chipping it now is like taking a whore fishing:p
might be fun, but not what you wanted to...

also my opinion... from 5k up it feels alive... underneath it dousn`t feel at all:p

plans with engine:

work on the cil. head.. (flowen)
pressiure valve system gone... mech valve system in...(higher revs!)
about 290 cams..

bore same, but 1.9 krank...

than after fitting itb`s and alpha-n it must run about 8300 revs.. and app. 200/210 hp

Nice work - if you don't mind me asking what did the setup cost and where did you source it?

Does your car" whoosh" like it has turbo and blow of valve, on hard pull after 5000-7000rpm when you shift gear?

My e36is does it with Dbilas itb`s and thats sounds very hilarious:cool:
