Title: trackjunkie21
Post by: trackjunkie21 on August 21, 2010, 06:48:06 PM
Hello guys, my name is Kamil and I am 16 years old:) I was finally able to make an account here after a couple months of owning my 91 Brilliantrot 318i. The best thing about this car, is that it came with factory LSD!
This is when I first picked it up.

Now here it is after about 5 months and several upgrades later.

Upgrades include, 15x7 O.Z. Fittipaldi mesh wheels, fresh paint, IS lip, Fogs, Euro Ellips, IS lip spoiler, black kidney, ZHP shift knob and a Blaupunkt Head unit. I am in the middle of buying some H&R sport springs which should make the car look and handle much, much better.

So I got the H&R sports. only weird thing is the part number. It's 29 206. Never seen an H&R spring with that part number. Another weird thing is that the front springs have 5 coils, whereas sports are supposed to have 6 if I'm not mistaken. I guess I will have to wait and see until I have them mounted.:D

Well I started the school year off pretty well, took advantage of my auto shop class and the plasti dip that I had laying around. Sprayed my rockers black again and installed the mt1 wheel I had laying around in my trunk. Only thing I dislike, is that I keep hitting the stalks with my fingers.

The plasti dip looks great!  Great progress!

You probably already know, but the non airbag and airbag stalks are different...

FINALLY lowered my car. Took long enough and I am in love. Car rides rather smooth for how low it is and I'm in love with the stance. It has finally settled and is lower than in the pic I shot.

They were supposedly H&R sports for a 6 cylinder e30 but they are somewhat in the H&R race category.
Also got the HID's in

Loving how they are white with no blue whatsoever. Since it was my birthday last week, I decided to order myself some birthday presents. Ordered a Europlate filler from Blunttech, A COP kit from e30pq and now I'm looking for a JVC KD-R900 headunit.

What kind of HID kit did you end up going with?

Got a new headunit, Alpine IDA-x303 to be exact. I chose this headunit beause of the ipod friendly interface, since I only listen to my ipod or a thumbdrive, this was the perfect match. No cd player since noone uses cd's anymore. Overall it's a nice looking piece and fits well.

I also got the COP kit installed a few weeks ago. Whoever needs a tune-up I highly recommend picking this up. Freshens up the engine bay and brings back some of that lost power. I still need to clean up the wiring and make it more factory looking.

GOOD WORK!  That looks like a really nice head unit.  Can you change the face colors to match OEM?  That was one of the big reasons I chose the Kenwood I got.

It is really cool to see such a young guy doing it and doing it right.  You should be proud and what you are learning will serve you very well in the years to come.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I was actually confused when I bought this one. It was showing one with red backlighting so I pulled the trigger, only to find out that the ida-x305 has red, the x303 only came with blue. Isn't too noticeable actually. It shines more white then blue.

Meh, as long as it does what you want, doesn't really matter.  It's not like you're swapping a motor or something silly...

My Blaupunkt has red backlights!  :p  And a CD, too.  I do use it...but it's loaded with MP3s.

Seriously though, sweet car.  Thanks for posting your mods and the reviews.  I'd have loved this car when I was your age, but it cost $20k then (brand new) and I was making like $4.25/hr...I think I netted about $60/week after taxes...:(  LTS is right that your habits will serve you well, whatever the gear or year.  Keep up the good work (and telling us about it).

made the trip down to delaware for some Sport seats. Snagged em up, pulled the old ones, vacuumed the car and put the new ones in. The weird thing is, the passenger seat has the release lever on the opposite side. what gives?
Here they all, in all their glory.

Nice!

The handle also serves as the "rest" for the seat belt is very obviously on backwards or the wrong side.

This is a little difficult to do with the sport seats and is almost like they used a driver's top half and mated it to a passenger's bottom half.  The best thing to do is pull the back of the seat and you may be able to just swap them around without a huge amount of fuss.  there is a "lever" on the other side too, isn't there?

I got my euro plate filler installed and yellow lamin-x on the front, went with the lamin-x because I was skeptical how french high beams would look so I wanted a cheap reversible way to see if I like it, end result is that I will definitely be frenching the highs, Also decided that I'm going 24v pretty soon, while all the lunatics will be out shopping on friday, this lunatic will be at the PnP looking for an m50:D
