Ok... so soon I will have my e21 320is here. This means I can start work on the e30 318is. (You see a pattern there? And, they're both white on black. most of my friends can't even tell the difference betwixed them!)
I noticed a slight coolant leak the other day. Hasn't been any more since then, and temp hasn't even touched midline... but its a sign. So, overhaul time.
What should I get? Need help w/ shopping list...
From BMP got hose kit (9 total)
Thermostat (88 degrees, right.. what brand(s)?)
Seals and such fro thermostat
water pump (again.. what brand(s)?)
Seals and such for water pump
More radiator fluid... of course! (BMW fluid only? Or redline OK?)
What else?
I'm thinking of taking the radiator to a radiator shop to have them clean it out. Any advice here? Missing anything from my shopping list? Basically, want to get is all done in one shot... and not touch this again until it's due for a new flush.
Am I on the right track here? Also... "economical" is good. I want what's best for my car, but I'm still a poor student that needs to eat!!!
Also... never done these on this car b4 (done thermostat on e21, but its REALLY different than this car), so install advice VERY welcome (I will study the bentley manual, but it doesnt cover the m42!?!?!).
Cheers, and thanks in advance. Happy motoring.

Don't forget the seal for the block drain, located under the #4 exhaust tube...
unless you aren't going to drain the block, but, if you're going to do all of that other stuff, you may as well flush properly.

I forgot the part number, maybe someone has it here, but make sure you get the metal impeller water pump NOT the plastic one. just my 2 cents........anybody got the part #?
