will a 80* tstat from a 85-91 325 fit in our m42?

Not positive, but I believe they are the same size/shape.

I have a brand new cooling system with a 186 in it and I get nervous because the car sits at about 195. I have been told to drop my clutch fan for an electric unit but the hassle hasn't been justified yet.
