Title: lifting the engine
Post by: detoxed on June 15, 2010, 09:05:37 PM
Getting ready to do a front suspension refresh as well as replacing the front subframe- had reinforcement tabs welded in. I plan on using a support bar ie Harbor Frt. #96524 but wondering if a little help under the lower oil pan with a floor jack and a 2x4 across the bottom of the oil pan to distribute the load would be safe?  Just to help get the steering rack out of the old subframe and the new one in place.
Thanks

I haven't done it on an M42, but an M20 is strong enough...YMMV

that support bar should be enough to hold the engine
