I was wondering are there any benefits/problems if we were to remove the emission control crap like the charcoal canister ect. Will it throw any codes or anything? I know when I took all of that stuff off of my MGB it ran soooo much better. I know it will clean up the engine bay just a little bit and a couple pounds but is it really worth it? Is there an air pump that blows air or anything? I live in a state where we don't have emissions or inspections and this will *hopefully soon* be a dedicated autox car anyways so I am not that worried about having to pass emissions that much anyways.

I've never seen much benefit to removing emissions items. Just make sure they're functioning properly.

Some cars have a egr valve which puts a gas back in the intake to reduce emissions by having less oxygen to burn, ie less power

None of that here, the engine's pcv system and throttle airbypass is totally closed(total recirc from crank case to metered intake air), and the emissions of the exhaust I believe are handled by the cat alone. They use slightly higher than normal overlap of the valves to assist in keeping combustion temps lower.

In order to remove canister purge valve and not throw any codes you must connect a 1kohm resistor in place of the valve. ;) After that you can delete all the crap.
