Title: noisy lifter+rocker after install dbilas itb+cam
Post by: yoyon on May 13, 2010, 09:39:20 AM
hello,

my engine is m42b18 e30 standard. recently i'm installing new dbilas ITB and camshaft+ valve spring.
once finish all item installed, the engine noise rattling from rocker+lifter is so loud.
i wonder, is it HVA failure? should i use solid lifter?
any suggestion is appreciated

thanks®ards,

Run it at 1700- 1800 for at least five minutes. It goes away

Probably bad ITBs... you should just give them to me for free!  J/K yeah, they're hydraulic lifters and need to bleed out so you'll have some bad rattle for a few minutes.

I have had the same problem for years and never caused any damage

So if i just replaced a cracked head and checked all the timing components and put it all back together i would get that diesel noise until the lifters were bled out?

found out that hvas are bad condition, replace them with custom solid lifter
