Title: e36 M42 head gasket replacement
Post by: bmwconnect on May 11, 2010, 10:24:30 AM
Hello, Doing my HG today but I'm stuck on the chain tensioner. I removed the 19mm nut but the pressure still seems to be on the chain and I'm not sure what might be wrong.

Also I broke the steel profile gasket around the thermostat housing. I want to avoid removing the lower half chain case, has anyone successfully RVT'ed that section ?

thanks in advance

Does this mean that all that crazy turbocharging finally made it blow?

Ya I had a unfortunate mishap on the highway. pressure line to the turbo actuator slipped off and boost pressures sky rocketed and it was over quickly.

I saw 21 psi and it was over. one of the spark plugs cracked also from the intense heat

Crazy awesome!  Are you staying stock on the headgasket etc or are you going to something more suited for turbocharging?
