Title: Axle Nut Size?
Post by: dvmotorsports on May 01, 2010, 04:14:42 PM
Rather than running to the store, buying several sockets and then returning what I don't use, does anyone know the axle nut size for an 87 325ic?

Front or rear?

I believe its a 36 in front (not sure) and a 30mm in back, if I'm wrong then its just 30mm all the way around!

I just did a rear wheel bearing on my 91 318is and I'm pretty sure it was either a 30mm or 32mm 12pt.

30mm.

Why would you want to use a 12-point?  It's torqued to like 230 lb-ft!

You need a thin wall for the rear too

Thats right, i'm thinking of newer bmws that have 12pt nuts.  The e30 had a six point.

So 30mm thin wall 6pt is what I am gathering, right?
