Title: Retrofitting BMW M44 exhaust manifold onto BMW M42 engine?
Post by: nicknikolovski on April 14, 2010, 08:06:46 AM
Hi guys,

I am struggling to find a RHD exhaust manifold for my BMW E36 M42 so after looking into part numbers and so forth, I found out that the LHD & RHD manifolds for the M44 are the same, so the steering column will not be in the way of the manifold like it is on the LHD M42 manifold.

My only problem is: Will the M44 manifold bolt to an M42 cat-converter?

To me the flange on the M44 manifold which bolts to the cat flange looks too short compared to the M42 manifold. But thats only going by the RealOEM diagrams.

Thanks

I think I have an E36 M42 manifold. I am in Canberra. I'll look on the weekend. I cannot recall its condition. PM me if interested.
