Mine takes like 5.5 to 5.8ish. Its more than what BMW specifies for some reason. You should be fine.

If you do a lot of hard driving should your oil consumption be a bit higher?  I've probably lost 1qt over the last few thousand miles, but its included a lot of hard driving.  Cant find any outward leaks, and the car never smokes.

Ya, its fine. Most car makers say their NEW cars don't have a any problem until they start burning more than 1 quart/1000 miles.

I always add 5qts & that gets me within a few mm of the max line.  If I am doing mostly highway driving, then I only need to add a quart every 4000-5000 miles (I run 15W-50 full synth, change oil every 10k, filter at 5k).  City driving / short trips, I have found that I lose a quart every 1500-2000 miles lol.
