Title: DASC Intercooler
Post by: M42_Jester on April 02, 2010, 07:46:07 PM
Does anyone know whether u need an intercooler or something of the like for the DASC kit?

also, wats the maximum psi that the DASC puts out?

Cheers,
Jester

I've read that an intercooler isn't required at the 7 psi the DASC makes. On the other hand, Procharger's website goes to great lengths to argue that it does. I tend to side with the opinion of people that aren't selling intercoolers.

jackson racing used to integrate an intercooler into their roots setups, but i don't know how.

could always consider water/meth injection as an alternative if you want to run a smaller pulley for more boost.

When mine was custom supercharged @8psi with same S/C than DASC (eaton m62) I made it first not intercooled and then intercooled.
The difference was clear, never dynoed but more torque was there, especially in summer or after hours of hard driving.

This car is from 318ti.org, the owner is ZeroG. He was developing a water intercooler for DASC. Here you can see it:

I really want that IAAS intercooler setup. Probably not the most efficient setup, but it definitely looks like an improvement. I will probably look into making my own at some point.

Is ZeroG going to be selling those?

Not a chance...I am pretty sure that picture is a few years old.

To be frank, nobody cares about the DASC anymore. They were quite popular a few years back from the looks of it, but these days everybody just wants to swap.

My M42 had DASC on it, i cant see how an IC can be fitted to the setup - the SC mounts directly to the intake mani - so no IC pipes can run in between.

how can one install IC on DASC?

replace the manifold with the ic? There is a pretty good sized distance from the supercharger to the head.

The Ford Lightnings have water to air inter coolers, the inter cooler sits inside the manifold cavity... Its bigger than youd think...

the DASC involves replacing the manifold already.
