Title: Valve spring question
Post by: Hybrid775 on April 02, 2010, 02:22:58 AM
So I wanted to replace the valve springs on my M42 head, I noticed i have  dual valve springs. According RealOEM.com, M42 produced above 9/1992 have only the single springs. I own a 4/1992 M42.

So my question is can i get away by using the single valve springs they offer? or do i have to go with the dual valve spring?

You can go single. But if you are running a bone stock motor, i'd stay with what you are originally equipped with. If you do go single, go aftermarket. Some companies offer single spring conversions but they are made specifically to compensate for the lack of the second spring.

The price of dual valve spring is almost double...:(
