Title: Vert seat belt retractor
Post by: AtlBMW on March 10, 2010, 06:43:51 PM
The spring on my passenger seat belt doesn't retract like days of old. Can these be refreshed or do I just replace.
Vert specific part aren't as prevalent.

I am not sure if it can be fixed. I would replace it. Better safe than sorry.

I don't think it is unsafe it just droops after it is released from  the front passinger.

I was getting the impression it does not hold tight and is very loose. I am sorry. But I still do not think it can be fixed. For some reason I would think that places would not fix it because of the liability if its not fixed correctly.

I have the same issue. Pulled the retractor yesterday, found that the guide roller was covered with gunk which I scraped off & sprayed with silicon. Sprayed the mechanism with wd40 and the belt with silicon. It works noticeably better, but not back to as new.
