Title: rear bumper molding

does anyone know trick to removing rear bumper molding e30 318is???

I usually pull the side marker lights with a straight blade screwdriver, remove the bumper, then push the molding out from the inside.  I haven't found a way to keep from breaking a few of the molding clips that retain the molding in the bumper cover or the bumper cover itself though.

I was going to try heating it up a little with a hair dryer or sunlight to see if that helped.
