I have been able to drive my car for the last 48 hours and I am having a blast.
Does it ride smooth and faster than it feels or is my speedometer off? It revs very well and high. The aftermarket muffler dosen't sound too bad either.
Just thought I would share the joy.
ps
This is the tag style I got

BMW speedos are a little optimistic... figure 3-4 mph faster than indicated
or rather "officer... my speedo is 3-4 mph faster than indicated, and I couldn't have been going [insert speeed]..."
can you tell us about yer other cars and a little bit about yer driving style?

I noticed this when I was driving by a road radar thing a few times... You know, the things that say "Your speed is XXX."
Glad to hear you're enjoying your car FL318is!

I use the OBC. My speedo is at say...140 km/h (limit is 100....I know..but it handles so well officer...:P) and my OBC when I reset the avg speed it says I'm going about 135-136 km/h. Btw, welcome to the club. E30s are addictive. I let my mom drive mine once.....she dumped the Mazda and got an E30 lol. I myself have been driving E30s ever since I got my license and I wouldn't drive anything else (besides an M car lol)

Well, Bmw's are a little faster than other cars!
Years ago Mercedes advertising boasted about "engineering" more acceleration into the 240D and 300D diesels. What they actually did was change the throttle linkage geometry so that movement of the gas pedal opened the throttle more than on previous models. I guess you could call this "regressive geometry"
FL318is, " Just thought I would share the joy." Oh yeah!

I miss living in Florida, there are so many cool license plates available. My dad has the Florida State tag...it matches his gold-colored Buick:D I used to have a Challenger plate on my old Pontiac before I moved to Cali. Your particular tag style is awesome.

My dad got the "United We Stand" Florida plate on his Vette.

this is what makes the 318 fun to drive for me-
1. Turn-in is GREAT. The car just lunges into a turn
2. If you rev up to 35 or 3600 between shifts, then letting out the clutch results in another lunge as the torque peaks.
3. Strong brakes and balanced mass distribution allow the above traits to make every corner a sensory experience.
4. if you want to, it is a pleasant cruiser. Quiet, roomy, and refined.
Yes, it is a blast to drive. Very different from my Porsche.

That is totally awesome. In Cali we have 10 plate styles and that's it, Florida has approx. 100 distinctive plates. I feel jipped.

The shark plate has added approx 5 more bhp. Seriously! Whereas the wildflower tag will create a overall drop in performance.
I customized a tag frame with th addition of the M colors at the bottom. Frame is black and the colors are small size. Looks good.
I am really enjoying the car. Best part, no oil leak. AMAZING feeling.
I wish we all lived close of enough to have a meet. You guys are without a doubt the best group I have encountered in the BMW world.
What was that saying? Something like "Keep the Revs UP!"
