Another new member. Just found the site this morning. I have a 91 318is that I bought with need of a engine rebuild. Poor guy who owned the car rebuit the engine and didn't replace the oil pump. When he started it up the pump went into pieces. So the need for the rebuild. When I took the head off there was a rubber o-ring in #2 cyclinder. Does anyone have a exploded view of the assembly of the valves?

Not quite sure what you're talkin about, but here's a couple diagrams of the cylinder head of our cars:

I think this is really what you're lookin for though:

Hopefully this can help you on your road to rebuild, or can help you find a better diagram of what you need :) Happy wrenching!

It will be far cheaper and easier to find another engine.
If you are dead set on a rebuild, there are places that already have rebuilt motors for semi-decent rates, you may want to look into that since you have no idea what the condition of your block is now in.
If all else fails research the parts for the rebuild, but before you buy anything get your block and head checked out.

I feel your pain. Let us know what you decide. I too just got a 91 and have been fixing as I go.
I will tell you based on where I am with my engine, I would not rebuild but buy another engine.
Good luck and stay with the herd. These guys are great!!!

Rebuild is in full swing. I believe I've gatered all the parts and the block has been gone over. I hope to have everything back together in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know how things are progressing. Thanks for the help and I hope to learn a great deal more as I go. Seems like a great group!!
