Title: More window and central locking problems!
Post by: Sean_318is on January 19, 2010, 03:49:23 AM

My drivers side window will not close all way when the door is shut, also the central locking will not work on the remote fob. The alarm will set and unset with the fob and the passenger side window works fine.

I think it started when I decided to lubricate the lock...

Any ideas?

I'd check for a micro switch frozen closed or shorted.  IIRC there are two on the door lock that might be broken.  The last one I checked the lock switch had totally fallen off.  Those are a PITA on the e30 to mess with.

Didn't your car have an auto down on the passenger door?  I heard somewhere that the window would open just a bit so that the doors would close easily.  Maybe that sensor or mechanism is permanently engaged?

Or maybe I've been watching too much Star Wars?

Thanks for the reply :) Yes, you are correct, there is an auto down on the vehicle. I'm suspecting the same thing as you, the car thinks the window is still open so it wont lock properly. Like you say the handle/lock assembly is a PITA to get at too!

Time to dig about blindly inside the door and swear a lot lol :)
