The first car I ever owned was a green 1970 Chevy Nova. I was 18 and I bought it for $3,000 and owned it for about 15 years. The car I traded it for was carp

My "first" car was a beetle. :)
First car I owned was a 73 Capri 2600. Which I sold when I moved to Germany in 85 and bought an E 21.
-
'67 Mustang. With the slow 200 6 cyl.
-
The first car I ever owned myself was a 1995 BMW 530i. My first car, bought by dear old dad for me in 1999, was a 1978 Pontiac Grand Le Mans.
-
1985 VW Golf 3-door 5-speed. Silver & black fabric. No options. Vin put it about #400 in production, which made odd parts unbelievably expensive (driveshafts were $400, WTF?).
Built just down the road in New Stanton, PA. I don't see a lot of those any more and can't say I'm unhappy about it.
-
85' 318 i It was white with tan interior. Had the bottle cap rims. I used my bonus money from joining the Army to put rims on her. 4 lug custom rims were few and far between in 94 and all of them were ugly. Too much to list....
I got rear ended by a Semi on the freeway, about died. She was totaled. I have had my 318is ever since.
-
My first car was a 74 Ford Econoline van...that was a party van
-
Subaru SVX. Followed by four more of the same of various years and trim options.
-
Big Pimp!
-
94 s10 4.3L 5 speed. all you had to do was hit the brake and the gas in 1-3 gears and it would smoke the tires....ahhh fun times.

91 Honda Accord 4dr
-
1988 Volvo 740 GLE nicest 740 you could get

1972 Monte Carlo. My dad and I were lookin at a classic muscle car for me first. I found a 74 Cutlass Supreme for cheap, but he liked the Monte better. Thing stunk but I loved it! 350ci V8, pillarless, no working A/C and the headliner was tore up, so you couldn't roll down the windows, no working dash lights, custom home-made stereo system....and the piece de resistance: Bench Seats.
-
1965 Datsun Pickup. 1200CC's of screaming power! all 60HP of them....
Dave
-
My first car was a 1958 BMW Isetta 300 convertible. I sure wish I had it now. Here is a picture of one like mine, except mine did not have the luggage rack.

1994 1.4 16v Rover 200 Hatchback, red. £650 6 years ago. Not a bad car really, lasted about a year or so but the gearbox died in the end just after I put a new clutch in it. Annoyed! Hehe. Luckily I had a nice blue Rover 220 Coupe 2.0 16v sat on the driveway I'd bought to do up :) Fun times!
Look at you guys with your 6 cylinders! Do that in the UK and they will r*pe you for insurance lol :)
-
1991 318is - still my car today, been my only car for 6 years now - still mint and going strong
-
1976 Mustang II Ghia. Silver with maroon interior.
-
1995 Jeep Wrangler. Went in with the rents to get it, was bone stock when I bought it. Spent too much money from weekend jobs lifting it, adding tires and bumpers, and tops and the like. I liked offroading back then, still like it today. I really wanted an mg or an old triumph but teenage dreamin is just that. dreaming. I sold it when it got rusty and bought my 318i straight up with the cash from the sell. Its weird how those things hold value.
-
Piss yellow YJ Wrangler. Good times.
-
83 volvo 242 turbo
-

-
1962 Chevy Impala, 327 'vette engine w/big valve (2.02") fuelie heads, 4-speed muncie rock crusher and hurst competition shifter (including the old t-bar handle). a lot of car for only $250... but that was 40 years ago.
-
1979 Chevy Malibu 4dr A/T, 200cu. in. 6, Baby Blue with absolutley no clearcoat left, 85k orig miles, $350. Bought it at the beginning of my Senior year in HS(1995-1996) from my neighbor. Added huge 'Blazer'(Aid Auto Stores special) driving lights and drove it like I stole it. Then a few months later, Rod Knock.

-
1968 Triumph Spitfire MkIII. Fun car, but broke a lot.
-
hi there, my first car was a 1987' VW Golf 1.6D :) very cheap ;)
-
First car that was mine - 1965 Chevelle SS - believe it or not, given to me by my great grandmother when she lost her license. She drove kick ass cars.
First car i bought myself - 1986 Merkur XR4ti. Went to the LM dealer to look at a used 1984 318i. This was in late 1987 when they knew they were dumping the Merkur brand. They sold me the dealer demo XR4ti with 8,000 miles on it for $9,000. Sticker was $20,000 a year earlier. Fun car, about as reliable as a Jaguar. Something was always breaking.
-
hiya my first car was a 1965 toyota corolla  bit of a dog but hey at 17 i thought it was cool :o
-
1979 Jeep cj7. With lap belts only this thing was seriously a death trap. But my goodness did my friends and I have some fun in that car.

1975 MGB that my dad and I restored for 2.5 years got when I was 14. Did everything you could imagine from engine, clutch, transmission, interior, full suspension, brakes, top, electricals, except the diff, and had the car painted. We even rewired the car to get rid of that Lucas, the Prince of Darkness, to a Quickwire, if you have an older British car I HIGHLY suggest it because I had very few electrical gremlins after that. It was all together and a new engine, had to have a second one because the first one put a rod through the block and took out the trans too, and two weeks later a lady slammed into me and too her away, God I miss that car, but I am glad to be alive after that accident.
Before I painted the rims, this is my homecoming night

84 VW Rabbit diesel 5spd. Tan on Tan vinyl. I used to forget to plug it in on purpose on really cold winter days so i could have an excuse to sleep in(circa 1991). drove it for a couple of years and it eventually blew up in a plume of purple smoke. A friend of mine that i used to sk8 with bought it from me, rolled it while intoxicated, and drove it another couple of months. Dont know what ever happened to it
-
My first car was a brown metallic 1965 Ford Mustang with 122K on the clock, tired 289/2V automatic with Factory A/C. I ripped out the A/C and rebuilt the engine. I paid $300 for it....way back in 1973....My first BMW I bought this year is a White with tan/black interior 1991 318is M42 5 speed sunroof car with 206K on the clock...and still running like a top.
-
First was an 84 318i. white two door passed on from my grandfather. Day before i moved away to university my brother crashed it. Picked up a 91 318 shortly after, had that for a few years til i hit a tree. Bumper and hood were messed but car still ran beautifully. i found another 318 for the price of a new hood, rad support and full front bumper. had a bad interior but the outside was rust free. $500 and then i just swapped the entire interior from one car to the other and parted out the original.
i've never owned anything besides an e30, and i'm pretty sure its going to be a long time before i try anything else.
-
Gray 67 Mustang with a 289 V8, automatic and some mag wheels. Bought it for 3k and sold it for 5,6k. I miss that car.

-
i buy a e30 318 1984 for a few days and i like it, and buy a 325i auto 1985 and love forever, 5 years with it.
-
My first car has E30 320i at the beginning it was a very good car, gave me a lot, I like to remember
-
Was a 71 510. $500 fun ride.
-
Nice...510s seemed to be everywhere not so many years ago. Where did they all go? Just like Super Beetles, Alfas and good MGBs. Depressing, isn't it?
Happily, the e30 is a little more recent, better build quality.
-
1977 AMC Hornet Amx. One year only, I was the second owner with the original build sheet, and all receipts from the day it left the dealer. 304 ci v8 with about 190 hp (at the engine) I sold because I got sick of hunting for parts when I had an effed rotor, and couldn't even order one. The guy I sold it to had 3 of them on a shelf in his garage. He now has the biggest collection of these cars on the planet, with 3.

Not my car pictured, but identical, save the stupid hood graphic. Even had cobras on it.
-
84 delphin 325e 5-speed. loved it. since then i've gone through quite a few E30s before settling on my current 2.
-
'82 Porsche 924. I still want to track down that car. About as fast as a golf but fun and great for picking up chicks in high school. I was in waaay over my head as far as maintenance was concerned.
-
this E36 from '94 (and i'm the second owner!!)

My first was an e34 525i with a 5-speed, loved that car. Then I sold it to buy a 944 Turbo which was a bad idea, maintenance-cost wise. Then I bought the 318iS.
-

-
1991 318is!! represent, Got it through safety with 48 things to do, took 3 months and $$$ but was worth every penny
-
My first car was a 1976 VW Rabbit. It was bright orange, just like this one but orange. I completely rebuilt the car, including swapping out the transmission for a four speed from a Scirocco, and swapping out most of the interior too. Sold it when I went away to college.
We called it the Great Pumpkin. It was awesome on Halloween. My buddy would stand out the sunroof with a fire extinguisher and hose down people on Halloween, that car was FEARED!! :D

My buddy & I were just talking about this particular car...I seem to recall a few of them tooling around...but I haven't seen one in decades. Pity about this and a few other cars that deserved a better chance...like the original AMX, Cosworth Vega, Avanti, etc.

First Vehicle/ First Truck: 1987 Nissan D21
First Car (where it counts): 1991 BMW 318is
-
My first car was a '72 super bettle.
As for BMW's: E36 325i, E46 323i, E46 325ic and now my E30 318is. The E30 is the first I've owned, no payments for me.
-
My current 318is is the first and only car I've owned. Bought on ebay when I was 15, after deciding that a 944 would cost a bit too much in high school.
-
First car was an '84 Chrysler Laser that my dad leased for a year as it was on a lease return from the folks he got his company cars through. I used to think it was such a good car and my parents had no clue about European cars and thought they were junk. Wow is all I can say once I saw the light.
First car I bought myself (and the only new car I've ever purchased) was my beloved '95 YJ Wrangler Rio Grande that got after finishing my undergrad and getting my first job. I wanted a Sahara so bad that it was killing me, but there were none in the country and even used ones were going for over $20k due to demand for the 6cyl. I pretty much had to have a new car with a warranty as I had no tools and no clue other than how to change a tire and the oil in cars.
I kept that Jeep until last fall when I sold it for the move to Germany. I'm man enough to admit I was in tears that day. This is a pic of the first SUCCESSFUL run on the Rubicon with it (just a bit modified from the day I bought it). I've learned just a touch over the years on working on cars as EVERYTHING done to this Jeep I did, including some custom welding fabrication.

The last thing I remember was shifting into 4th gear and then i woke up with blood everywhere. I ate the dashboard so hard, I needed a plastic surgeon to put my nose back together
Good Times!

1974 BMW 2002. Dad and I bought it when I was 15 for $1700 (this was in 1986) and we recovered the seats, overhauled the engine, and painted the car just in time for my 16th birthday. That car had the best ride on our rough Oklahoma roads...
Good times...
-
My Dad had a '74 2002 that he bought new, a red 4-speed with A/C. If it hadn't rusted out we'd likely still have it. The salesman just tossed the keys to him and said "Take it out for the afternoon. It'll sell itself." Absolutely did. He always insisted that car was the most fun to drive out of all the cars he'd owned.

-
1983 Peugeot 505 STI
-
1987 528e - Royal Blue
-
First car I ever owned myself was a 67 Mustang, 289 three speed. I got it shortly before I went into the marines and then sold it right before I left for bootcamp. Should have never done that.
-
My first was a 1982 toyota Supra, then came a 1990 Opel Vectra GLS, then a 1996 Renault Laguna V6 Baccarra, then a 1991 Toyota Soarer V8 ltd, a 2002 Subaru Legacy B4, a 2004 VW Golf R32 and the 1991 318is
-
1985 Pontiac Fiero - $850. Within a year it needed a new clutch disk, pressure plate, master and slave. Then it cracked a it's head due to the crap cooling system. All told, it actually handled well and achieved acceptable fuel mileage.....when it would run. My car lead a pretty rough life before I got it, so I can't really blame GM too much. Of course, my severely limited mechanical prowess as a teenager didn't help either.
Imagine this car with much more oxidation on the paint:
The next car was a 1986 Mazda RX-7. Also having been beaten pretty well before I took ownership, I went through two transmissions in a year and a half because those things apparently need a witches' brew of transmission fluid and a blessing from Baron Samedi to not grind themselves into oblivion. Someone in a Suburban wasn't paying attention and clipped the rear end, which prompted me to finally cut my losses.
Mine looked a eerily similar to this one:
Then, I saw the light. A woman that I worked with mentioned that she and her husband had one too many older cars and needed to sell one. They actually cried when they signed the title over to what became my first real love: a Sahara 1969 BMW 1600-2. I didn't own a digital camera in 2000 when I bought it, but it looked almost exactly like this one:
She wore original paint and had just 142,000 miles on her when I bought her. hence, my education and obsession began.
She lasted five years until the wrong set of circumstances put her nose into the rear end of a Cadillac. I later bought a "restored" 1970 2002 that turned out to be a scam, then a mostly original but rusty underneath 1976 2002 that both met their end due to traffic accidents (only one was my fault!). About a year and a half ago, I finally got back into a 1600. My current car is a 1967 1600 with a newly installed M42 and five speed. I'm still working the kinks out, but it's a blast to own and drive.
See the details at www.TX02.blogspot.com (http://www.tx02.blogspot.com).

Very nice. When I had my 1973? 2002tii I thought about how awesome it would be to have an m42 in it. I've seen people with a lot of time and money do the M3 (s14) swap but for a daily driver that is over-kill not to mention very expensive. The 2002tii is actually fast enough stock because of how light it is, but the m42 makes more power and is super-smooth :D by comparison. Why not do this swap when most 2002's you buy will need an engine rebuild anyways.
M42 Sounds like shit though! :)
70's 3.0 CSL, now that's a nice sounding BMW..
I don't think people realize just how crazy an m42 in a 2002 would be. Fact of the matter is an M3 motor in there equals to a death trap. I don't see the point of building a show car you race in a straight line once a month. Throw-around cars built for mountain roads with balance in mind are much better.

1.5l I-4 with 82 horsepower, 3-speed automatic.
The car drank about a quart of oil every 50 miles and the clutch ended up giving out. I bought it from my Mom for $500 (she ripped me off.)

My first car was an old black Chrysler Concorde I affectionately named Lulu. <3
Nothing special but my friends and I did prove that it would make it to 130 mph. :D

mine was a 1991 accord 4 door and the og motor and auto tranny went 389,000 and started first try everyday. strange because the car was horribly maintained.
-
1990 E30 318iS. Brilliant red. Immaculate.
I sold it when it needed a rebuild. Worst mistake of my life.
But I just picked up another one yesterday :)

First ride ever was a 1984 Chevy Suburban done in proper Michigan hill billy style.
4" Suspension lift, 2" body lift, 35" Ground Hog tires, rebuilt 350 with cam, 10:1 compression, roller rocker heads, Edelbrock (
I'm actually kinda sad I never got to hit a deer with that truck.... :P

1987 mercury cougar xr7 5.0 black with red leather , it had sat in my buddies yard for 2 years and hadnt been started . I needed a car to get to school and back so he sold it to me for 250 bucks , we threw a battery in it and it fired right up , i drove the hell out of it and sold it for 450 a year later hahahaha . great first car .

my first car was a 61 Ford, Fairlane, but 61 was the last year before they down-sized it-so a full sized road hog, 292 v-8, 3 on the tree manual, bought for 300 bucks, went thru 2 junkyard trannies after the original blew, had it for 5 years and sold it for 400. I dont know what happened, but 1 month later it was out front of the local junkyard with a totalled front end. I dont know what he ran it into, but I bet the old girl left her mark:o

It was about 1977-78. My first car was a 1974 Chevy Vega GT.
If it weren't for that awful engine, it would've been an OK car. With Konis and cut springs it handled pretty well in spite of the beam rear axle.
But that engine! At 30k miles, it was using a quart of oil every 300 miles.
Chevy rebuilt it, and the symptoms returned within a year and 10k miles.
Finally dumped it.
Mine looked more or less like this, but I took off the "chrome" bump strip on the sides and lost the chrome trim rings on the wheels:

Hell of a car in the snow, I whipped around the worst New England could offer on cheap chinese sport tires. Met an untimely end on a freak rainy day.

I stick to "cheap" sporty cars now lol

My first car was/is a '66 Mustang....still got it. It's now a 425hp street legal vintage road racer.

First was a late 80's Subaru station wagon, bah!
went on to many other kinds of cars figuring out whats fast easier... Regret letting go, but this was my best:
(http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk210/Johnhenry_album/LS2Z28Iowned.jpg) LS1 taken out for a LS2,cammed,headers, and a tune producing 410RWHP. Ran mid 11's on 1/4 mile. Built by TonyLS2.

Two years ago, 1999 mk3 VW Golf. Dad helped to buy it with bad transaxle, and helped remove and re-install rebuilt trans. After working on that cluttered front wheel drive setup I try not to complain about working on e30s.

1st car was a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Have been driving my 318iS since I was 15 (now 27) since my parents were the original owners.

Drove this throughout high school. Loved this car. Once I managed to get myself and 8 friends to a party. 2 people in the passenger seat, 4 in the back seat, 2 in the trunk and me driving. :D Good memories.

I forgot one of my motorcycles...1972 Honda 350 CB...just upgraded above.

Hmmmmmm. Let me think
First Car - 1981 Toyota Corolla Tercel (Tercels were originally a Corolla trim) 5 speed, felt like about 40 horsepower wish I still had it.
1986 Chevrolet C1500 Stepside - Cheyenne Trim - it had a Monte Carlo seat in it that wasn't bolted down. Sitting on 2X4's. No seatbelts. V8. I think gas was $1.29 a gallon
1990 Mazda B2600i 4X4 Pickup, 5 Speed - This truck was fast as hell and was a good value when purchased. Nice interior.
1987 Toyota Pickup, 2wd, extended cab, long bed, 5 speed, 4 cyl - this was the LONGEST truck ever made. I felt like a dork driving it and made a mistake in getting it. It had mud tires on just the back. And a camper top. DORK MOBILE.
1987 Toyota 4wd Reg. Cab, Reg. Bed, 4 cyl, 5 speed - loved this truck. I was on the fire dept and put a siren under the skid plate and wig wags on the headlights. Crashed it into the side of the school bus for the Mississippi School for the Blind and Deaf - no lie. Is a funny story.
1981 Jeep CJ-7, 304, 4 speed T-176 Transmission, bright yellow - Love this Jeep! My favorite vehicle ever. Super reliable, just had to keep an alternator belt with me all the time. Drove it to college. It rolled down a hill when the parking brake failed and crashed into an embankment. I opted to sell it rather than fix it. Big mistake.
1986 Honda Accord, 2 Door Hatchback - My $600 car that I bought to commute in when still owned the Jeep. Nothing like having a $600 car. Was a great car, except it was automatic.
1989 Toyota Camry - awesome car. Nice interior, good mileage, solid built - put 280K on it and sold it. Believe it is still running.
1981 Mercedes 300TD - Diesel Wagon - $1200 car. Was awesome. 28mpg. Cavernous wagon space. Would like another one.
1998 Honda Civic - 4 cyl, auto - inherited from wife when got her a Honda Pilot. Good car, but I hate it. It is an appliance. It is boring to drive. Still have it as my 2nd car
Finally! 1991 318is. Had it since November. Commuting in it unless I'm working on it, then drive the Honda. Love my car!
Also - had a 1971 Dodge Charger that never ran.
Wife has had the Honda Civic, a Honda Pilot, now driving a Toyota Prius (which is a really good family vehicle!)
