i really do not enjoy that.
it started after i did the "mess under the intake". i just put in a brand new bosch ICV and it did it again, but when i pulled over i noticed the clamp from the ICV to the intake boot was loose so i tightened it, it didnt do it on the short 2 mile drive home so i dont know if it fixed it or not.
it seems to happen pretty random and i cant figure out a way to get it to stop, it just stops when it feels like it it seems. thats why im being so vague.
am i missing something stupid? i need to figure this out. any ideas? thanks.

Make sure the accelerator cable is not getting caught.

yea, i shut it right off and coasted to a stop and the TB was closed when i popped the hood. the cable is all janky but im pretty sure thats not it.

One small test of the ICV is to bang it with the dull end of a screwdriver to see if it has any effect. It's a wild shot but see what happens next time it is reving.

I have a brand new ICV that's dead in the box. Try to swap your old one & check all the hoses. The accel cable adjuster might be cracked too...I had one that was hanging up on the throttle body bracket, not fun. BMW sells a little wire clip to fix the problem, I think it was both a TSB and a recall.
