Engine is the standard M42B18 with 136 hp, tires are Avon Slicks. Speedo was calibrated to GPS. Lateral and longitudinal g-forces shown in the vid. First race of the year 2009 in april on the nurburgring nordschleife.

Hmmm, the BTG time from my lap was a bit less than in your video. So I think
that driver in your video can still improve his driving skills. :p
A BTG time in the range of 8:30 is possible with a standard 136 hp engine and good (Bridgestone RE55S / Dunlop Direzza) semi slick tires.
And about 10 seconds slower with Toyo R888 tires.

Hot dog!

Sweet camera set-up, and by looking at the tiny pictures, your car looks sick as well. Anymore pictures?

The guy driving is an amatuer, I dont know him personally, I just know it is a 320is. Looks quite fast, and sounds mean. I agree on the driving though.

I do however know the driver personally because when he was here visiting some years ago from England, I gave him a ride in my E30M3 2.5L. I'm not sure of his driving experience, but I'm sure it's fun getting on that track even if it's only for one lap. His car is a 2.0L S14 motor and the AWESOME sound that you hear from the engine is the Carbon Fiber airbox just like the ones they ran on the race cars back in the '80's and early '90's.

I gotta bump this as it is motivating me to finish getting mine ready.
It won't be in the same galaxy as either of these cars as I probably won't be doing race tires and the motor is bone stock, but I'm planning on doing a more "every man's" camera setup to document.

That is fantastic. Really nice car. Still love the sound of the s14, just beautiful.

That is a nice bit of video. Very inspirational.

full of win and post pics if your car!

Awesome video. I'd love to try and get to the Ring next time i'm in Germany....hopefully next year!
Great video/data logging setup btw. I'm currently trying to write an app for my android phone logging gps/accelerometer status and video recording, so i can replay the video straight after a run with stats displayed at the same time.

It's not too expensive. I have it and have been messing with it. I am playing around with it along side racerender to get data and video merged. Just need to get the time to devote to them.
Bimmerworld also has this bad boy which I have been keeping a watchful eye on:

that first video kicks ass! That is my car! Only with a better driver. And probably better suspension. And better tires. Yeah. Nevermind. It's not my car.
