Title: Bi-xenon smileys?
Post by: asubimmer on August 13, 2006, 02:28:36 PM
Well since the recent loss of my "high's" I've been thinking of xenon's. I don't really care about highs (ie bi-xenon's) but I don't know if its possible to pass inspections w/out highs? Do you have to have high beams to pass? If so, my only options are put in highs :( , bi-xenon's, or buy somone beer ;) . Does anyone know how wide the e46 m3 projector lense is? I have heard of people retrofiting newer bmw projectors into the e30 ellips. Smileys projectors look to be about 2 1/4"

One thing that makes me sad though is I love the __/__/ and would like to keep that cutoff but its prob not possible. None of the newer bmw's had that cutoff did they? Possibly euro bi-xenon's?

I just thought it would be a good time to retrofit when I had them apart smoking em ;)

also if you have any info on lense size for 5ers or 7's etc I would appreciate it.

kthanksbye

in order to have xenons work you have to have the module because it has to get uber hot. and it's uber expensive (like 1000$ a set) usually anyway What happened to the highs? oh and buy beer anyway ;)

charlie, if it helps you out to know:

I am in the (apparently lifelong) process of fitting single xenon projectors from an E46 into my low beams; they do have a very similar cutoff to our lowbeams;

Also, you can take the single xenon projector, and remove the projector part (the big round magnifying glass thing) and replace it with an E30 lowbeam projector ...it fits!

(although the reflector part is a little shorter and I need to make some spacers using longer bolts and some extra nuts, etc.)

anyway, the bi xenon projector isn't that much bigger... maybe you can get it to fit? it would be a neat project...
