These are NOT a cop kit. These coils replace the coils in your e30 318is that are mounted in the pack on the wheel well. You still use your plug wires.
To do a COP conversion you need to buy the plate you can get on this forum.
Then you can either use junkyard/ebay e36 m3 coils or you can order the high performance coils from Bav Auto.
But not these bav auto coils. they do not fit. You need to call them and tell them you need 4 of the e36 M3 coils. They will sell them to you in sets of 4. (About $200). They just don't offer them that way on the web site.
I've got the COP conversion and the Bav Auto coils. I really like them. But I can't say they are better than the much cheaper used febi coils because I've never compared them back to back. They are a huge improvement over the 150k mile spark plug wires though.

What about this coils???
-
those are the same coils but in the first picture they are installed on a custom made COP bracket whick is what you would need to do a COP conversion
-
Or you could purchase the COP kit that Rob and I sell.
We provide the plate, all the hardware and new coils that have a one year warranty.
The whole kit is cheaper than a new set of performance coil wires.
Check the Ultimate COP kit thread in the classified section.

We have our COP kit on our race car, running up to 19psi of boost and it preforms great. It's a real benefit to the car.

Except they may not fit. The plate we sell uses a Bremi style coil like the E46 engines. I believe the BavAuto coils that they sell for the M42 are Bosch style, square headed coils.
We've never had a problem with the coils we run and have actually run on the track at over 24psi (not on purpose).

you are right, the squares ones would not fit, but what would work is to get teh bav auto e46 coils for your plate. there is a link floating around where some tuner company actually tested the bav auto coils and got good results in +midrange torque and +%4 gas mileage.
