First off thanks to anyone who offers any kind of advice..... that said original motor in my 91 318is threw rod,so got replacement from bavarian out of a same year car.wireing to abs is spliced and wireing under dash is spliced...
engine turns over but does not start no spark no fuel replaced cps, plugs, plug wires, and all fuses.gauges come on inspection light comes on car turns but no start.next thought is ecu/dme.i dont think any of the relays are getting any power jumperd all the relay sockets(30/87) still no power on any of them.....im stuck as what to do next other than ecu....please help im a true e30 fan will never sell this ride!

ok so decided to reset oil inspection sucsess all green lights are lit ....unfortunately now starter will not even turn and radio has no power at all checked fuse box and it blew a few of them replaced those fuses some are ok others blew again this cars electrical is in sad shape going to undo wires where spliced today to see if any may have burns:-(

Sorry to hear it. Electrical problems are always a PITA. Might be quicker to grab a JY harness...let us know what you find.

installed new wire harness still poping fuses and no radio and starter is not turning over

Did you get a wiring harness with the new (used) motor or did you splice everything when you installed it ?
-
got new one but still had to splice in at abs and under dash where there are no conectors at first starter would turn but no fuel or spark but after i reset oil inspection light starter would not turn over with key but can get it to turn motor with screw driver directly on contacts...

From what I hear that was a upgraded harness for the AFM.. Apparently the factory harness would let water leak into it, so they used to this seal the plug better (This what I have read on other sites)...I have been running mine with this extension for over a year...No problems..

Yeah, it's a resistor pack to change the MAF signal to the DME. I had water in mine & pulled it out. BMW developed it to deal with rough idle for the early M42s.
Did you test the crank pos sensor for resistance? I know you replaced it, but you'll have to eliminate problems to chase this one down. If the ECU doesn't get the right signal it won't power the fuel pump.
-
yes i tested it ive been checking the wieing of new harness cause now im blowing fuses and now starter dont turn with key only with jumping it also lost power to windows and locks and radio has no power not sure if its bad ground or i have bare wire somewhere contacting ...lol def in right place this is electronics hell...
-
ok found few bad spots and also noticed alarm relay was bad replaced it playing it safe ordering new ecu,relays,fuelpump...also replaceing fuses and replaceing valet switch on alarm to negate alarm....also want to do cop conversion to eliminate plug wires and coils on fender i figure if i still got no start after all that im in trouble....lmao
-
ok sorry to me so long to get back on ladies and gentleman but work took me out of town for quite a but car is still sitting the same way and im getting back on it anyone who can help is invited or just drop a message...

Check the resistance and voltage at the coils. Also tap on the starter to see if it's sticking. If the V and Ohms are good as the coils (should be 0.8 +/- 0.1) then check voltage from the DME on the coil pins as well as the fuel pump. However, you should be able to hear the pump kick on when you turn on the car. If there is voltage for the pump at the DME, but you don't hear it turn on, check your connections at the pump. If the starter still doesn't engage after tapping, check the starter relay. If it's good inspect the wiring. If that is good, replace the starter or have it tested at the local autozone, kragen, napa, etc.
Check and report back.

thanx for the info dme is getting power but none is comeing out of it lmao so starting there...
-
I'd start with the starter, if it's still giving you trouble. That will cook everything else if it's shorting full battery power to chassis.
Then I'd do the wiring, finally the DME troubleshooting.

does anyone know if the red alarm box under dash on drivers side is stock...???? i think its killing signal to fuel pump and killing signal to kill spark can i just pull it out when i bought car this was in it and vallet switch was enguaged and i checked it and switch is bad.... and i dont wanna fix it i want this crappy thing out and maybe put a newer alarm in
