My car has the pinstripes on it.  
Not really wanting to keep them.  I heard about this rubber buffer pad that will remove them.  Anybody know something about that?

yeah, you can get it at eastwood

its like a big rubber eraser... people can also (slowly) peel the shit off with a thumbnail... but I recommend the wheel.

best to use with a rotary tool... I think the arbor (the bit that holds the thing) is around 3/8" ...I have one (the arbor) if you need it.

or use a hair drier!

The wheel is the best Hopefully the paint won't show where the stripes were. The glue causes a little ridge and discoloration. I know a lot of folks that have put them back on because they didn't look as bad as the effects of the removed tape. You can't buff it off either. It goes into the paint. I've even seen it show up after a repaint.

Two ways I've done it.

#1 Eraser wheel, mild solvent to get off the goo, then wax.

#2 Park the car with one side facing the sun on a hot day. Let it sit for a while. Pick the end of the stripe up and pull. Should come off pretty easy. Rotate car, repeat. A hair dryer will get the same thing done but this was much easier... er lazier...

I can second the peeling method, but you can see where they were. The paint where they were is much nicer than the rest of my car. My paint is in particularly bad shape, so yours may not be so noticable.

Ditto that...  Either way, it's a bit of a PITA, but the hair-dryer method worked okay for me.  

I actually want to have some pin stripes re-applied to my car, but it's WAY down the list of "things to do".

I have been trying the thumb nail process, tape is too brittle.  I will park in sun and or try the hair dryer method.  Initial impressions is the tape is very non elastic and won't peel in large sections.  I suspect I will be paying a visit to eastwwod.

From the little I have removed the paint has been affected.  I will clay the car and polish and wax.  If that works so much the better, but if not I will paint huge flames down the side.  :eek:

what do you think?
