Hi I just got an oil change for my car, and i was wondering if anybody knows how to reset the oil inspection light, oil needs servicing light after an oil change. I dont want to take it to the dealer. And also the lights telling you when you should do your next oil change. The lights from green all the way to red. Do they get reset also? because mine is still on the yellow light even tho i just changed the oil. Thanks to anyone who helps! Im new to this so details would be helpful :)

Thanks alot for the help man!

That's a helpful site, but it doesn't say which specific pins to jump.
Do they pin numbers vary between models?

Let me check....
Pins 7 & 19. I used this guide last time:

Ever since I reset my oil inspection indicators. The lights always stay green Im due for an oil change but the lights are still green they wont change at all. I hope I didnt mess anything up when i reset it. Does anyone have an idea of what could have went wrong?

I don't think they really do much of anything...probably just a mileage monitor. What are BMW's recommended intervals, 7500 miles? Could also be the batteries. Do they turn off after a little while? If so, don't worry about it.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but jumping the wrong pins might have cost you a DME/ECU. Can you borrow a spare to test it? I keep one for just that purpose...they can't last forever.

yeah i dont have spare ecu but im ordering replacement this weekend...also have been reding some bad wireing spots and replaceing all relays and fuses just to be safe...also new fuel pump and considering cop conversion...

That's the right way to go at it. The COP is a great way to go. I'd see if I could find a chipped ECU...and take a look at the old one to see if there's any obvious damage.

Just get the reset tool from Ebay much safer and only £10.00
